We could not be more proud of current thesis student, Chelsi Bullard (class of 2017), for being selected as one of Chicken and Egg Accelerator Lab grantees for her film Kids Can Spit. This highly competitive award selects ten women directing their first or second documentary features for a year-long fellowship accompanied by a sizable grant. Chelsi is the first of our students to receive this grant while still in school, a truly remarkable feat! Previous SocDoc Chicken & Egg grantees include faculty Beth Levison (32 Pills) and Kirsten Johnson (Cameraperson), and alumni Sasha Friedlander (Mudflow), Siyan Liu & Danni Wang (Jolin), and David Osit (Thank You For Playing).
Elsewhere, Dana Kalmey (alumnus) and Erik Spink (faculty) were both awarded the 2017 Impact Partners Producers' Fellowship which was founded just two years ago to celebrate the independent documentary producer and foster emerging producing talent through a yearlong program of workshops with some of the most prominent luminaries in our field. We're excited for you to bring this knowledge to your films - and back to SocDoc!
Congratulations to all!
