Thom Powers has been a programmer for the Toronto International Film Festival since 2006. He is the co-founder and artistic director of America's largest documentary festival DOC NYC. He hosts the podcast Pure Nonfiction, interviewing documentary makers; and the weekly radio spot “Documentary of the Week” for New York's public radio station, WNYC. He programs for the Miami International Film Festival and was a co-founder of the Cinema Eye Honors and the Garrett Scott Documentary Development Grant. He has served as a festival juror for Cannes, Sundance and other festivals in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and South America. Before working as a festival programmer, Powers spent a decade directing and producing documentaries for HBO and PBS.
