Department Scholarships
The SocDoc department gives scholarships in the second semester of the program to help fund thesis film projects. These are merit based scholarships based on work done in the first semester and faculty recommendations.
Work Study
The SocDoc department participates in the federal work study program and there are work study opportunities in the department and elsewhere at SVA. You must apply and be approved by the Financial Aid department before being considered in the department.
Alumni Scholarships
The Alumni Society of School of Visual Arts provides a wide variety scholarships and awards to students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in all majors offered by the College. Because SVA covers all overhead expenses for The Alumni Society, 100 percent of any donation to the Society goes directly to one of the scholarship funds. Read more…
SVA Matching Outside Scholarships
SVA matching scholarship is available to full- and part-time graduate students. SVA will match 25% of any outside scholarship, up to $2500 that a student obtains for enrollment at SVA.

Donate to the MFA SocDoc Scholarship Fund -
We know that an MFA program is a costly endeavor and we are constantly trying to find more grants and scholarships for our students and to actively build our department scholarship fund.
In addition to a tax deduction when you donate to our SocDoc scholarship fund you are also eligible for some great perks – use of our 49 seat HD theater for screenings, a wine and cheese reception and more!
